Luigi Valente

Luigi Valente was born in Rome in 1975 and graduated with a degree in Architecture from Rome “La Sapienza”.
Afterwards, he developed teaching and research activities as a faculty member at “La Sapienza” while improving his knowledge of paractical and theoretical design.
Valente gained valuable professional experience while working for international firms such as Studio Portoghesi, Nemesi Studio and Studio Fuksas where he had the chance to collaborate on several projects since 2007, such as the Lycée Hôtelier Marianne of Montpellier, the “Carreau” des Halles in Paris and the Abu Dabi’s SZN Museum.

More recently he participated in several international competitions and obtained the first prize for the Fregene’s Seafront Competition in 2007 while collaborating with Gruppo Portoghesi.
In 2008, he also won the Europan 9 first prize for the design of the Kotka’s Masterplan in Finland.

His works have been shown in New York, Rome, Florence and Venice-Biennal (“Trans-City” project for the “UnEternal City” pavilion) and have been published in several catalogs such as Europan 9 (2008) and UnEternal City (2008).

Among his most recent works (within the 2009-2011 period) he can enumerate the rehabilitation of the Oslo’s ex landfill (Norway), the new neighborhood in Romainmotier (Switzerland) and the renovation of the Castle and several ancient buinldings in Rotello (Italy).

Particularly interested in architectural design, Valente also focuses on restoration. During his creative and professional experience he developed a particular sensitivity for urban problems involving new cities’ areas.
